Hostel

SGI has provided the hostel facility in the view of providing a secure atmosphere . Boys and girls hostels are located in the campus itself so it makes easy access between college and students. It has got good facilities and infrastructure which makes students feel comfortable and find a homely atmosphere. Being away from the city hubnubs, the hostel a serene and calm atmosphere. hostels have mess facilities for students. The mess is spacious, highly hygienic and elegant. Internet Facilities are also available in the hostel.

Hostel life helps a student cultivate self-dependence, independent thinking cooperative spirit and managerial capabilities. SGI has, therefore, provided residential accommodation on campus for both boys and girls, Both the hostels are fully air conditioned, spacious and fully furnished with beds, study tables, chairs and cupboards. The Hostel Mess provides nutritious and hygienically prepared meal and clean drinking water through RO System. Recreation rooms with T.V, new paper, magazines and indoor games/ sports are an integral part of the SGI residential system. The hostels working committee comprising the Director, the Chief Warden, the Wardens and the Resident representatives (both male and female) deliberate upon and address the issues related to hostels at regular intervals. Besides this, the Hostels have 24 hours power back up and security arrangements. Fully trained guards at the main entrance keep round the clock vigil around the campus. The boarders have also been extended the extra facility of using internet and working in the computer center beyond regular working hours of the Institute.

Hostel facility is not made available to the students suffering from chronic/ serious diseases, disease that need immediate attention as the Institute is situated approx. 12 Km from city. The Hostellers are expected to be regular and punctual in attending their classes and 85% attendance is compulsory for them. Also they are obliged to participate in games/ sports that are held in the evening. SGI has a well laid out Canteen & Nescafe Center that serve quality snacks, beverages and meal to both students and faculty.

Library

The library is well stocked with text and general books along with the magazines and research journals, Regular newspapers both regional and national are specifically subscribed to cater the need of all the readers various facilities like e-library, e-journals and subscription with various international agencies like DELNET & J-GATE.

Library is the heart, mind and soul of an educational institution and a fountain-head of innovativeness, inspiration and insight both for the students and the faculty. Learning and library are to each other as the light to the lamp.

Library is located in the separate area in the college building with air conditioned facility. It has been systematically and steadily strengthened. The library operation and services are fully computerized with "Redox EIMS System" multi user Integrated Library Automation Software developed by Redox Technologies, New-Delhi and a Bar-Code based circulation system is in use. The library is equipped with more than 18000 books from different streams. Besides these text and reference books the Library is also subscribing to a large number of national and international journals, magazines and Encyclopedia. Bibliographic records of Library holdings can be accessed through the Redox on Line Public Access Catalogue (OPAC).The Library also maintains a good collection of important educational CDs/DVDs on Engineering & Technology.

Library is also an institutional member of Developing Library Network (DELNET) & NISCAIR, New Delhi. Besides providing on line access to various DELNET databases, DELNET is also providing a very good DELNET Loan and Document Delivery Services to our faculty & students.

Computer Centre

Operating with large numbers of desktops, world class server technologies and a wi-fi campus to ensure mobile computing at all locations. Internet bandwidth of 8 mbps helps support our systems.

We firmly believe that the overall development and knowledge enhancement for an engineer is possible only after adequate exposure to information technology. In alignment with this ideology self sufficient Computer with IBM & hp servers, desktops, HP Hi-end Laser jet printers and relevant software have been set up that completely fulfils all the requirements of the students and faculty. Internet facility with high speed RF link has been made available for education and academic purposes. All computers are in LAN (Local Area Network) and are served by a powerful server. SGI has availed MSDN from Microsoft: under which almost all Microsoft products will be available to SGI students.

Students have the choice of Windows (XP, Vista, Windows 7 etc.) or Linux Operating System at SGI.

Computer Centre facilitates the students to become independent learners and self- starters. We encourage use of multimedia to learn inter-actively and work on class projects. They use the Internet to explore, engage in projects, and communicate with no barriers.

The computer lab has been set up under the guidance of expert professionals, so as to provide best technology and facilities to the students. All students are highly benefitted by gathering information, organizing and presenting the same in meaningful manner.

Workshop

The laboratories and mechanical workshops being the core facility have most modern equipments and machinery conforming to highest standards. The institute has state of the art physics, chemistry, electronics and communication, electrical technology labs and mechanical workshops. The laboratories have been planned with absolute care to ensure safety while working. All the required machines and equipments in the labs/mechanical workshops are as per prescribed norms and standards. Each lab/workshop is spacieous enough for the students to work comfortably.

Institute has extensive Workshops and Laboratory facilities in every department with all required equipment and systems to enable the students to conduct practicals properly. The Laboratories are well maintained and are having sufficient number of supporting staff, who are equally well trained and committed to students learning. Sports lounge has various indoor and outdoor games facilities like Table-Tennis, Carrom, Chess, Basket Ball, Volley Ball, Cricket and other board games.

Institute has excellent sports facilities for all outdoor and indoor games and adequate emphasis is given on all round growth and development of students. Institute has well maintained football, hockey, cricket grounds and 400 meters athletic track. Two Volley ball courts, a Basketball court, a Lawn Tennis Court and Badminton court are available for students. A multi-gym exercise has been provided to the students. Indoor sports equipments viz. table tennis, chess etc. are also part of the sports facilities.
